Going Concerned uses affiliate links to help keep the publication running. Here’s exactly how that works — and what it doesn’t mean.

How affiliate links work

Some links on Going Concerned are affiliate links. The mechanics are straightforward: if you click one of our links and go on to buy a product or sign up for a service, we may receive a small commission — at no additional cost to you.

These links may appear in articles, newsletters, or elsewhere on the site. They typically point to books, financial tools, and other products we reference in our coverage. Where a link is an affiliate link, that doesn’t change our view of the product — we link to things because they’re relevant, not because they pay us.

Our principles

We want to be clear about how we think about this — because the financial media has a long and rich history of saying one thing and doing another.

What we commit to

Affiliate relationships never influence our editorial. If we think a book is badly written, a tool is overpriced, or a company behaved badly, we’ll say so — regardless of whether we have an affiliate deal with them.

We don’t accept paid sponsorship from certain categories of advertiser. We will not take money from crypto projects, get-rich-quick schemes, unregulated investment products, or any brand that could compromise the trust our readers place in us. Full details are on our Sponsorship page.

We cover scandal, fraud, and collapse — including at companies we may link to. An affiliate relationship has never stopped us, and never will stop us, from covering a company’s wrongdoing fairly and fully.

Going Concerned exists to tell the stories that powerful institutions would rather you didn’t read. That mission only works if you trust us. We take that seriously.
